This piece was especially interesting to make because I had to use fire to create the effect of water. By using candles to melt wax, and dripping the wax onto the canvas, it gave the piece a unique texture. The lively flame helps create the life of the koi fish in the water. I started by getting a candle and melting Crayola crayons to drip the wax onto the canvas. For some of the colors what were very saturated, I mixed it with some of the clear wax of the candle to try and distill the colors a bit. It was especially interesting to work with a completely different medium.
